Actress Pinko Izumi (61) is excited about a sequel to the Fuji TV drama special "Saga no Gabai-baachan." The original drama was based on a bestselling novel by talento Yoshichi Shimada, which told the story of his childhood living with his grandmother in the Saga prefecture. Aside from the drama, the novel has also been adapted to film and manga.
The first drama special aired in 2007 and was focused on an eight-year span of Shimada's life with his grandmother, up until his middle school graduation. It was a success, with an average rating of 19.2%.
The sequel will again star Izumi as the grandmother. This time, the drama will revolve around the young Akihiro (Shimada's real first name) in his early elementary school years. Yuki Imai (10) plays the part of Akihiro.
Fuji TV has announced that the drama will be broadcast in 2010.

Special 7th album from Park Ji Yoon
Singer Park Ji Yoon will have her first showcase since her debut.
The showcase is in commemoration of her newly released 7th comeback album after 6 years and will be held on 28th at 2pm at Daily Project.
She will be singing songs from her new album like ‘In my fading memories’, ‘Spring, Summer, and what’s between’.

Annual charity telethon
NTV has announced that its annual charity telethon "24 Hour Television" will have popular boy band NEWS as its main personalities this year. Now in its 32nd year, the telethon has featured Johnny's talents for seven years straight.
This year's telethon will be at Tokyo Big Sight instead of the usual Nippon Budokan. The event, whose theme is "START! ~Ippo wo Fumidasou~," will be held on August 29-30.

Actress Heo Yi Jae has been casted as the main female character to an upcoming drama collaboration between Korea and Japan. And she acting opposite Big Bang TOP and SeungRi in the tele-cinema ‘My 19-year-old’.
‘My 19′ is a suspense drama that talks about the flaws of the society, and of 2 19-year-old teenagers who got involved in a homicide case. The drama is written by Inoue Yumiko who also did many Japanese dramas like ‘Engine’ and ‘Good Luck’.

My Queen Ending was reveal
Jessica Song revealed the ending of on her blog without permission. After the leaked ending, fans of Wu Shuang's "Senior" were heart broken, while the "strawberry clan" cheered. In the beginning, SETTV openly criticized Jessica Song as being stupid and even hinted of re-filming the ending. However, producer Chen Yu Shan expressed that both the TV novel and official website had long revealed that Shan Wu Shuang's (Cheryl Yang) love has always been for Ethan Ruan. She advises the audience, "You should enjoy the process."

Boys Before Flowers on a magazine cover again
After their love triangle rivalry in Boys Before Flowers, Lee Min Ho and Kim Hyun Joong will do battle once again on a magazine cover. Korea's Asta TV magazine for May will be releasing double cover issues, featuring Lee Min Ho and Kim Hyun Joong separately for the first time in their history. Raymond Lam’s new song (If Time Comes)
This is the fourth song that Tang Chi Wai and I have written for Raymond.
Initially when I have submitted my first draft, the producer having read through the lyrics, hoped that I could refine the lyrics to make it better. At that moment, I was under pressure and also overwhelmed with fear of failing. (The same thing happened to me when we were working on “Moonlight Resonance” theme song).
Nevertheless, little did I realise that the more I wanted to make it better, the worst it turned out to be. I know this is an important song and I truly felt remorse. As time is running out on me and recording has to be completed, I proposed to use the original lyrics, because I personally like the original lyrics, and it was also a work that I put all my heart and effort into writing.
After recording, miracle prevails over my fear, overnight, I have a total change of perception about the song (from OK) to (BEING FOND OF). This is a breakthrough that I have never expected. Raymond's performance deserves the credit. There are people who regard him as an actor, and do not accept him as a singer. But I believe that one should learn to look at things from different perspectives.
It is because of him being an actor, even though his voice is not perfect, the feelings he portrays when he sings unexplainably brings one into the song, he has a uniquely addictive voice. Cecilia Chung and Zhou Xun are good examples.
Because of this song, Chi Wai and I were very anxious about the outcome. And this is also the first time I heard Chi Wai was angry over some unreasonable comments on the internet about this song. There are people who critisized that they do not understand the meaning of the lyrics. However, there are also some netizens who defended me and interpreted the meaning of the song as [If you are an arrogant person and if you see that someone that you like ends up with someone who is better off than you, you will feel helpless, hurtful and regretful, just as the lyrics depicted……]

"Share The World/We Are,'' the 27th single album by Dong Bang Shin Gi, one of South Korea's top pop idol groups and also known as TVXQ, shot to the top in the single daily table of Japan's Oricon Charts upon being released Wednesday.
Yonhap News Agency estimated the number of the albums sold at more than 58,000, much more than the second-ranked single that stood at about 20,000.
TVXQ's latest single, which had put the image of summer above all things, has been taking top spot on the music request chart run by USEN, Japan's largest cable TV network, even before its release, according to Yonhap.
The album's flagship song also has been used as an opening piece for a popular animation now being broadcast over Fuji TV since earlier this month.

Singer Ayaka (21) performed at Cosmo Earth Conscious Act Earth Day concert which aims to raise awareness of environment issues through music at the Budoukan on 22nd April. In her first solo live since appearing in a press conference with actor Mizushima Hiro to announce their marriage, she sang 'Okaeri' and 'Yume wo Mikata ni', among others, singing a total of 17 songs. She confessed that she did not feel like she had Basedow's disease as she delivered her powerful performances.

Days after a teaser video was posted online (watch below) without explanation, which has been stirring renewed interest in the romance drama Boys Before Flowers, the official announcement has come for the “five years later” story touted in the clip:

On the 23rd on "Sunday Night," if all goes according to plan, SNSD is to take on the challenge of producing a horror movie on their new show, "SNSD's Horror Movie Factory."
SNSD will bring a special acting coach every episode to learn different ways of acting and be tested. Through these tests, one SNSD member will be chosen as the best Horror Queen to star in the horror movie.

Knock Knock Loving You new idol drama
Coco Chiang Yi fell into the water; Dylan Kuo PinChao dove into the water to save her. On the way down, however, he smashed his head on the underwater camera; his head bled. This hero wasn't able to save the beauty; instead, he almost disfigured his own face!
In CTS's new idol drama, 敲敲愛上你/Knock Knock Loving You, there is a scene in which Coco Chiang falls into the water. Unexpectedly, however, male lead Dylan Kuo wound up injuring himself in his efforts to save her! In the drama, Coco's character loves Dylan's unrequitedly; she tries to catch up to him in her wheelchair and accidentally falls into the swimming pool. The pool they used to film the scene wasn't quite deep enough; when jumping in after Coco, Dylan misjudged the angle required. His head crashed into the camera at the bottom of the pool; his head was injured, and he began bleeding immediately.
The strong and tall Dylan bravely endured the pain, trying [to film the scene] three times in a row; unfortunately, he also hit his head three times in a row. Coco also had to fall into the water three times. Dylan's forehead was bleeding; Coco didn't have an easy time, either. In the interest of realism, Coco had to pretend that she didn't know how to swim. She wound up swallowing a lot of water!

Zatoichi The Last release on 2010
The newest and supposedly final Zatoichi film, appropriately titled "Zatoichi The Last," had its main cast revealed earlier this week. When the film was first announced in March, it was known that SMAP's Shingo Katori would star as Zatoichi, but it was not yet public that Takashi Sorimachi and Satomi Ishihara are part of the supporting cast.
Sorimachi will be playing a key role as a close friend of the blind swordsman, while Ishihara takes on the part of Zatoichi's wife. Other cast members include Chieko Baisho, Youki Kudoh, Koichi Iwaki, Yoshio Harada, Kanzaburo Nakamura, and child actor Seishiro Kato.
Directed by Junji Sakamoto, "Zatoichi The Last" is planned for a 2010 release.

The popular Fuji TV drama series "LIAR GAME" is coming back with a second season and a theatrical film. Based on a manga by Shinobu Kaitani, the show originally aired in 2007 and drew very strong ratings for its late-night time slot.
The psychological thriller starred rising youngsters Erika Toda (20) and Shota Matsuda (23). They will of course reprise their roles in the new productions. So far, the expected dates for the second season and the movie have not yet been decided.

Cinderella Man : From Yoona Expressing
The scene where she drinks is during the part with Yoojin (Yoona) returns to Korea after studying abroad at EsMod Fashion School in Paris after her father's death. Yoojin starts working in the markets of the Great East Gate, running her parent's clothing store but situation turns bad when she is confronted with debts and eviction of the store. She sets up a street vendor with Oh Daesan (Kwon Sangwoo) and is crying and complaining to him about her situation. This scene can be seen on Episode 2 will air on the 16th.
The rumor states that Yoona voluntarily drank to fully bring out her emotions and mood required for the filming.
The staff who were present at the filming site complimented Yoona upon her strong will. After Yoona finished filming for that scene she said she doesn't understand why guys would drink this bitter Soju(alcohol), shaking her head in puzzlement.

Jin Air is to provide the two flights between Gimpo and Jeju and Busan and Jeju for the event scheduled for May 2 and 3. The group's five members will be divided into two groups to board each plane and personally serve the fans in the cabin.

First concert of Wang Lee Hom 2009 campus tour
Wang Leehom held the first concert of his 2009 campus tour, attracting large groups of fans who went to see their idol's graceful manner and performance. At the concert, Leehom even acted as Cupid, helping a couple make a marriage proposal and confession of love causing the atmosphere on and offstage to reach its highest point.
Handsome Wang Leehom wore a white shirt with black vest and accessories adorned with diamonds; his look was simple but did not lack a sense of rock. As soon as he appeared on stage, the crowd cheered. At the concert, he performed a total of 15 songs, famous ones and those from his latest album including [Heart.Beat], [Dirty Love], [I Have Absolutely No Reason to Pay Attention to You]; regardless of whether he was expressing emotion [through love songs] or performing rock, the female fans offstage paid full attention, watching their idol with deep feeling; during the concert, Leehom performed violin, piano and other talents, his exquisite performance making fans praise him further. His juniors Evan Yo and AiLing Tai also came down south specially to support him.

Ringo Shiina release of new original album
Ringo Shiina has announced the release of a new original album, the first under her name since "Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana" in 2003. Titled "Sanmon Gossip," the album is scheduled to go on sale June 24.
Shiina has mainly been active as part of the band Tokyo Jihen since 2004, though she has also done a couple collaborations under her name. And last year, she released multiple compilations in honor of the 10th anniversary of her music career.
"Sanmon Gossip" will reportedly include the songs "Ariamaru Tomi" (her new single coming out on May 27) and "Futaribocchi Jikan" (being used on NHK's "Minna no Uta" in June and July).

Tohoshinki will appear in a joint performance along with Japanese top singer, Ayumi Hamasaki.
The joint stage will take place in A-Nation 2009 on August 1st where Tohoshinki is participating to meet their local fans. Ever since A-Nation 2002, it’s been known that AVEX, one of Japan’s largest agencies which becomes Tohoshinki and Ayumi Hamasaki’s agency, has culture of joining its singers for a collaboration stage.

Descendants of the Dragon: Jackie Chan and Friends
SM Entertainment’s Zhang Li Yin will be attending the press conference for Jackie Chan's “Descendants of the Dragon: Jackie Chan and Friends” concert on Sunday, April 19, 2009. Super Junior-M will be attending the concert on May 1.

The concert, called “Descendants of the Dragon: Jackie Chan and Friends” is to commemorate the Sichuan earthquake that happened one year ago on May 12, 2008. Besides the Sichuan-born singer being invited, her labelmates Super Junior-M is also invited to the concert, though they will not be attending the press conference on Sunday.
The concert will start on May 1, the beginning of China’s three-day May Day holiday. Zhang Li Yin and Super Junior-M are expected to perform on the concert’s first day before returning back to Korea on May 2. Other guests expected to be at the concert include: Emil Chau, Wang Lee Hom, Jane Zhang, Hacken Lee, Joey Yung, Khalil Fong, Alan Tam, Charlene Choi, Jonathan Lee, Angela Zhang, Eric Tsang, Li Bing Bing, Li Yuchun and Rain.

JOHN Woo's Chinese historical epic, a biopic of Bruce Lee's kung fu master and a documentary-like look at a working-class neighborhood are the top contenders at the Hong Kong Film Awards on Sunday.
The nominees reflect the past and present of Hong Kong's movie industry - once a major Asian filmmaking hub known for its local stories, but now increasingly geared toward the mainland Chinese market with historical and kung fu blockbusters.
Woo's US$80 million (S$120 million) two-part epic 'Red Cliff,' based on an ancient Chinese battle by the same name, is a prime example of the recent trend of films made with an eye toward mainland viewers.
Wilson Yip's action-filled biography of Bruce Lee's teacher Ip Man is another example, portraying the late martial arts master as a patriot who resists the Japanese occupation of his southern Chinese hometown.
The first installment of 'Red Cliff' is up for 15 prizes and 'Ip Man' is competing for 12 at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Both movies are nominated for best picture.

The 2 had been signed up for 6-month contract as the model for Dynamic Kin. And they will be filming the CF within this month, the CF will air in May.
In the CF, Kim Hyun Joong and Park Shin Hye will play a pair of tired and stressed-out couple and they regain their energy for the drink. Kim Hyun Joong will also sing for the CM song to the CF.

Boys Before Flowers from F4 and Gu Hye-sun premieres on April 12
Boys Before Flowers may be over in Korea, but it's still got its overseas markets in which to promote itself.
Gu Hye-sun and F4 guys Lee Min-ho, Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Bum, and Kim Joon are headed to Japan; they'll arrive in Tokyo on April 15 to make a live television appearance, then hold an event to greet the press and meet fans in person.
The official cast fanmeeting will occur on April 16 in Tokyo Dome City at JCB Hall, at which the two kpop groups SS501 and T-Max will be present to give a special live performance of their songs from the drama soundtrack with actor-bandmates Kim Hyun-joong and Kim Joon.

Kenix Kwok is back from sabah
Kenix Kwok had just returned to Hong Kong from shooting oudoor scenes in Sabah, Malaysia for the TV series "Born Rich". The trip was just like a holiday because there was plenty of sun during the filming. She tanned a lot and although it gave off a healthy image, Kenix who is already very slim looked even more skinnier. While she was at the location she used the time to eat more meals and gain weight. She tried many different Sabah local dishes.

Bae Seul Gi’s comeback first minialbum has been released both online and offline.
Her comeback title song ‘Tiresome’ produced by the Brave Brothers who also did Son DamBi’s ‘Crazy’ has been receiving much popularity online since its release on the 2nd.

The Epik guys performed on April 8th episode of Kim Jung Eun’s “Chocolate,” where they showcased some songs off their new project “Map the Soul,” as well as rap segments and an Epik High classic, “Fly.”
Chocolate, as well as its’ snack counterpart “Peppermint” (hosted by Lee Hana), are shows that have been gaining popularity because of the guests featured, and those guests tend to mostly consist of the non-mainstream variety. Sure, DBSK and SNSD have appeared on Chocolate, but a lot more indie artists appear on the show as well. You definitely won’t find the run-of-the-mill variety you see on shows like Music Core, Inkigayo, Music Bank, and when else would you see Wheesung and Lyn doing their own superb covers of songs like “Mirotic” and “So Hot” on anywhere but Peppermint?
Epik High interacted lots with the audience and their performances were incredibly low-key but powerful nonetheless. There was some serious rapping going on, and it’s great to see a more mature audience that aren’t flipping their sh*t when it comes to music performances.

Actor Hayato Ichihara (22) has just launched his official musical career. Going by the name "Hayato," he released his first song "LIFE" as a digital exclusive on Thursday.
Ichihara is reportedly close to artists such as JESSE of RIZE, and since the age of 16, he has been trying to make his own music. The hip-hop tune "LIFE" features Ichihara rapping with lyrics that he wrote himself.
Before this, Ichihara rapped on screen in the 2006 movie "Chekeraccho!!" and gave away a song as a special bonus for a photobook, but "LIFE" is the first time that he has released a song on its own. With their member HaiMing’s surprise appearance in the drama Boys Over Flowers, group AST1 is also coming back after 10 months.
They will be performing on KBS Music Bank on 3rd April. They will be performing their OST song for Boys Over Flowers for about 2 weeks, after which they will release a new album on 13th April.

Actress Park Han Byul has dream of being in a girl band ever since she was young, and it looks like those dreams are finally coming true. She's going to be holding auditions for guitar, bass, drum, and keyboard players to form a 5 member band. Of course, she plans on taking the vocal role of the group. This will mark her comeback to the entertainment scene.
To spread the word about the auditions, she personally headed to the Hongdae district which has a high concentration of youths to spread leaflets. She also turned into a camerawoman and began to interview people on the streets about their music tastes. Even though Koreans are known for just walking by, unless being offered something for free, she was able to draw a reaction from the people. Park Han Byul also sought out guitarist Kim Tae Won to get some advice about music. He told her "Although starting music with a light heart is good, there has to be something that makes you unique."

‘21(To Anyone), the new girl group from YG Entertainment, also known as the ‘female Bigbang’, has changed their group name to ‘2NE1′.
If you pronounce ‘21′, it can also become ‘To Anyone’. However, they later were notified of there’s already a group named ‘21(To Anyone)’.
On the 30th, Yang Hyunsuk, the representative of YG said, “I apologize to the original ‘21(To Anyone)’. If I was aware of this before-hand I wouldn’t have included the meaning ‘To Anyone’ in the name.”
“When we were choosing a group name, we had searched up the number ‘21′ and didn’t have any results with any singers with the name. Thus, we thought that it was okay to use the name. However, we didn’t to search up ‘To Anyone’.”
Also Representative Yang said “We will not use the name ‘21′ or the meaning ‘To Anyone’ officially and instead we will use the name ‘2NE1′”

Also Representative Yang said “We will not use the name ‘21′ or the meaning ‘To Anyone’ officially and instead we will use the name ‘2NE1′”
According to YG, ‘2NE1′’s NE is the abbreviation for ‘New evolution’. Therefore, 2NE1 means a new evolution in the 21st century. A few days ago they confirmed two domains for this group (yg-2ne1.com/net/co.kr, yg-21.com/net/co.kr)
2NE1 planning to officially debut in the beginning of May, and have recently released a digital single ‘Lollipop’ with Bigbang.
Group Big Bang on vacation in the month of May
Group Big Bang will have a honey sweet vacation in the month of May.
YG president Yang Hyun Seok revealed that some time should be need for the members to recharge and hence for the whole of May, there will be no activities scheduled for the group.
Yang said in a phone interview, “Since their debut in 2006, Big Bang has not got the chance to rest properly. To make sure that they can make the best out of their Japanese promotions, they will have the whole of May to rest.”
Big Bang recently ended their promotion for their 3rd album title song ‘Sunset Glow’ last year. And right after that, member SeungRi into his solo promotion of the song ‘Strong Baby’ and the rest of the members did CF shooting and also did recording and working for their own music. All busy in ‘unseen places’. Also they will be staying in Japan and busy for their promotion in the months of June and July and recently they are also preparing for that.
Members DaeSung and SeungRi has already ended their MC taskes on MBC Music Core on 28th March for the vacation. But for DaeSung who has to be on SBS variety show ‘Family Outing’ and TOP who is doing filming for drama ‘IRIS’, the members will not be running for any promotions activities for that month.
This will be their first vacation or rather ‘recharging period’ for Big Bang in 3 years since their debut. Also for member GDragon, who is known to be the fashion icon, will also spend the time in May to go on a Europe vacation to study fashion. While TaeYang and SeungRi will study on dancing from famous dance choreographer in America.
