F4 members, Jerry Yan and Vanness Wu will be competing with each other directly on 31 Jan 2010 in their respective idol drama. With Wu starring in TTV and SET’s idol drama, [Autumn Concerto] still maintaining a viewership rating of 7, and CTS’s [Hi My Sweetheart] with a recent peak of 5 for its rating, CTV and GTV are set to expand their publicity outreach for [Down With Love]. On 25 Jan 2010, the two TV stations will spend another NT$1,500,000 for advertisements at 10 bus-stops along Renai Road, Taipei. The advertisements will showcase the photos of [DWL]’s love story.
GTV specially selected bus-stops along the route, beginning from The National Dr Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall to Lin Sen South Road. Each bus-stop will feature a different themed-Jerry and Ella’s love story in [DWL]. Members of the public can take photos with the advertisements and upload them onto their blogs. They can send their webpage links via MSN or to the [DWL] forum, and stand to win the autographed character photos from the male and female leads.
[Down With Love] will be shown on 31 Jan 2010. With the ongoing fierce viewership rating fights and especially with [Hi] showing its last episode on 31 Jan, the TV stations are definitely doing their best to publicize their drama via all channels.

2AM’s album delay again
It’s been confirmed that 2AM’s album has been delayed.
I know you’re all thinking, “But it’s out already!” and you would be right, except it’s only been released online. Not a single physical copy has been released to the public yet.
The reason? The members weren’t satisfied with the photoshoot for the jacket cover, and they decided to discard it.
Leader Jo Kwon said, “Our fans have been waiting a long time for our comeback and we know that. We want to give them the best quality content we have to offer. We know that it’s frustrating to have delays like this, but please wait just a little longer.”
2AM has already begun their promotions and they are doing very well so there isn’t much to worry about, but with a certain nine member girl group set to comeback this week, things might get shaken up.

Shoo (real name Yoo Su-young, 29), who was a member of the group S.E.S., is getting married to her basketball player boyfriend Lim Hyo-sung this April.
Shoo’s family and Lim’s family will meet for the first time this weekend, and they will fix the wedding date as Lim’s basketball game schedule wraps up.
On January 25, Shoo said via her close friend, “Both of us think April is the perfect timing for the wedding because the professional basketball season will finish in the middle of April. However, it is not easy to set a date for our wedding at the meeting of the bride's and groom's families." Shoo added, “We might rearrange our wedding schedule because Lim’s basketball team has the possibility of advancing to the finals."

Show Lo new album "Rashomon"
Show "Xiao Zhu (Little Pig)" Lo released his new album "Rashomon," selling over 90,000 copies in a short 2 weeks. Two days ago, he held a sign-sing function in Shimen Ting, attracting thousands of fans. SNSD, who just released their 2nd album comeback track “Oh!,” has already swept the music charts. Although faced with plagiarism allegations from day one, it doesn’t look like anything will hold them back from dominating the k-pop scene.

Jacky Cheung released " Private Corner " new album
It’s been 5 years since Jacky Cheung released a Cantonese album; his new album "Private Corner" will be released worldwide next Friday (January 29th). This album has been in preparations for a long time – all because Jacky takes the production of his album very seriously. Originally, a portion of the songs were already recorded, however after Jacky listened to them again, he decided to give up on 6 songs and instead choose a few new songs to re-record, resulting in additional time and costs. In post-production, the album was first sent to the U.S. for sound-mixing, then sent to Germany for disc printing, so that his fans – who have waited a long time for this album – can enjoy the highest quality recording.
Jacky described his creative album from 5 years ago as his most personal album to date; however this time around, he took the musical genre that he enjoyed listening to the most [jazz] and converged it into a record – presenting his “private corner” so that all his fans can experience his “private world.”
Since Jacky does not have any contracts with TVB, his MVs are allowed to be broadcast on other TV stations, if necessary. Universal has chosen to hold a press conference for Jacky on Jan. 28th to present his album to the public for the first time. In terms of whether his MV will air on ATV, Universal expressed that there is a possibility, but it is still in discussion. Jacky deeply understands the difficulties that his record company currently faces and has expressed that he will support all promotional efforts on behalf of his album.

Singer Kim Jeong-hoon's new single has debuted at No. 5 on Japan's music chart on the first day of its release, according to his agency on Thursday.
Kim's eighth single "Rainy Flash," which went on sale the previous day in time with the singer's birthday, ranked fifth on Japan's daily Oricon chart, Mersenne said in a press release.

Lately TVB has been taking in the "gossip wave" one after another! After the non-resolving issue with HKRIA, the has decided not to let TVB broadcast their award presentation, but gave the right to ATV instead. Looks like TVB stars in the film Michael Tse and Fala Chen will appear on ATV!

Qualifying finalists only include movies that released between January 1, 2009 - December 31, 2009. Last year's Shaw Brother/TVB film had received satisfying box office sales and feedback, there is a good chance that they will be a finalist. With the broadcast right turned over to ATV, the group of TVB stars including Michael Tse, Fala Chen and Koni Lui will end up appearing on ATV instead. However, if they do not attend, then it seems as if they aren't giving face to the HK Film Awards, its hard both ways. Eason Chan and Kay Tse both have contracts with TVB as well and is believe to face the same dilemma.

Jay Chou : updated news
Beijing Jiu Zhou Culture Communication Co., Ltd, general manager Tian Jing Quan yesterday happily confirmed that Jay Chou’s self-directed drama ‘Pandamen’ will begin broadcasting on all the major television stations in China beginning from January 17th. Last month, Jay had rushed back to Taiwan to re-film some scenes, and less than 2 weeks after that, the airing permit has finally been granted. Reports also said that Vic is pocketing S$50,000 more than his co-star’s previous partnership with the store.
In addition, Vic traveled to Thailand at the start of the New Year with Haden Kuo to shoot a new shampoo commercial for Rejoice Shampoo, which is said to land him a cool $10 million paycheck.

Super Junior traded the cute look for sexiness in 2009’s Sorry Sorry, a hit track that launched the thirteen-member group to the top of charts last spring. Tamaki Hiroshi solo concert
Nodame Cantabile's Chiaki sempai, Tamaki Hiroshi will be holding his solo concert on March 27th at Star Hall. As part of his promotional tour, he will appear on JSG's Annual Awards Show, taking place January 16th. The next day, he will be at Plaza Hollywood for his first HK function. S.H.E concert held in Merdeka Stadium
Malaysia Concert 2010 was initially scheduled to be held in Merdeka Stadium. However the concert has now been changed to Bukit Jalil National Stadium instead as the Merdeka Stadium has been undergoing renovations since last year. As the progress of renovation was unable to meet the standards and requirement of the venue in-charge, renovation works has to be postponed and could not finish in time in March. The venue in-charge also elaborated further that in consideration for safety precaution, the stadium should only hold events after they have been satisfied of its perfect condition!

Jiang Wei's upcoming Chinese film
Filming for Jiang Wei's upcoming Chinese film "Let the Bullets Fly" in a town in Taishan, Guangdong, has raised the ire of its residents.
Residents complained that the film crews tore down a cement road often used for public leisure activities and covered it with a layer of red soil.
While they shot the film, residents were denied use of the road. Residents also had to walk around with mud-caked shoes after recent rains turned the soil-covered road into a muddy mess.
The locals also claimed that the noise and lighting from the crew's night shoots have disrupted their sleep.
When asked about the matter, the film's head publicist said he had heard about the residents' complaints but explained that work on the road was necessary for filming and that the layer of soil on the road was merely a temporary inconvenience.
"Director Jiang had fallen in love with the red soil of Yunnan when he was shooting 'The Sun Also Rises', so we brought in the soil and put it over the road. However, once filming concludes, we will remove all of it," he said.
While the locals claim the noise from the shoot is inconveniencing them, the noise from onlookers and the crowded surroundings have reportedly been a nuisance to the crew.
Scenes often had to be re-done multiple times because ringing cell phones, barking dogs, crying children and sometimes even noise from nearby mahjong sessions kept interrupting the shots.
Filming at the town will last for about a month.

The Treasure Hunter (刺陵) starring Jay Chou and Chi-ling Lin was expected to be a box office success when it came out in last December. Now that a month have passed since its debut, the movie can probably be called a disappointment. The Treasure Hunter was first released in Mainland China, and won the box office battle against The Storm Warriors II when both premiered on the same day. Since then, the movie has struggled with poor ticket sales and negative reviews. It will be even harder to gain any ground as Avatar has finally hit theaters in the Mainland.
The Treasure Hunter was released in Hong Kong during the Christmas holidays, and it has accumulated slightly over 1 million HKD in box office earnings so far. Other new releases seemed to be fairing much better, as The Storm Warriors II and New Moon have each made over 15 million, Bodyguards and Assassins is somewhat below expectations at 14 million, and the blockbuster Avatar is about the go over the 90 million mark. It is not unusual for movies that have huge box office success elsewhere to do poorly in Hong Kong. However in The Treasure Hunter’s case, although it was never expected to be a smash hit, many thought it would have done much better considering its big-budget production and Jay Chou’s track record at the local box office.
Performance of The Treasure Hunter in Taiwan isn't much better than the Mainland or Hong Kong. Netizens on PTT are criticizing the movie for being illogical and ridiculous. Earlier in the week, Eric Tsang revealed that for the TVB artists who had cameos in the upcoming film “72 Tenants,” TVB only gave them a small amount of money in a red envelope along with with a strip of paper with the words “Endless Thanks” (無言感激), implying that TVB was being harsh. It was indicated that Derek Kwok, who had a cameo in the film, only received 2000HKD when his pay is usually 20,000HKD.
Yesterday, Derek Kwok clarified that the salary he got for “72 Tenants” was more than 2000HKD. He states: “Perhaps there were too many people this time around, plus it was only a small cameo, not many scenes. TVB's new series "The Season of Fate" held a promotional event yesterday. New single from KAT-TUN
Popular Johnny's group KAT-TUN have announced the release of a new single for February 10th.
Titled Love yourself - Kimi ga Kirai na Kimi ga Suki -, this will be the band's first single since RESCUE, which was released in March last year. Both the title track and the b-side The D-Motion are being used as tie-ins. The CD will be released in three editions, each featuring different jacket artwork. The regular edition will come with a bonus track, which is currently untitled, and the instrumental counterparts to all three tracks.
The limited Type A will include the bonus track Aishite Irukara, a solo song by Kamenashi Kazuya, and a DVD featuring the PV and making-of for the title track. New drama "Tokujo Kabachi/特上カバチ!!"
Arashi member Sho Sakurai and actress Maki Horikita attended the press release conference for the new drama "Tokujo Kabachi/特上カバチ!!" in Tokyo a few days ago. The character played by Horikita, an administrative scrivener, is quite "S" and always torments the character of Sakurai. "It is my first challenge to a character of an aggressive career woman." commented Horikita. "She becomes 'S' gradually during the hard work. She feels better when she is more dominant than others." she said with a quick grin.

I feel quite fresh with Endo-san, Katsumi Takahashi-san, and Masatoshi Nakamura-san. And I have learned a lot from them in a joyful way."
Horikita said jokingly: "Though it is my first time to play with Sakurai-san, Tamura (Sakurai) and Misuzu (Horikita) hate each other in the drama, I try to be unlovely in the always." Show Luo’s new album "Rashomon"
For Show Luo’s new album "Rashomon", the first single “The Leading Role” is a song about the competitive mentality both men and women get towards pursuing love. A Leo in the zodiac, Show has also been overwhelmed with many emotions towards love, admitting that when he was younger he had a “manly” mentality that cost him several opportunities for relationships.
Show felt that when he was younger he was too manly and this has left him with some regrets towards his love life. He said, “I have become much more mature now and have learned that by being less rambunctious I can learn much more about life.” He hopes that he can soon find the person to snag the “leading role” in his love life.
Show will be releasing his 7th album “Rashomon” on January 15th. His company, Gold Typhoon, has spent 8 million yuan on his promotions without hesitation. Though we previously showed you the MV and reported that he went all the way to New York to film it, we didn’t tell you who he worked with! Turns out they especially invited the producer for “Sex and the City”, actor Ethan Hawke’s makeup artist, singer Alicia Keys’s lighting division, as well as an Oscar-winning animation team all to create the MV for his “Love’s Center Stage” single. The work really paid off as there were some incredible CGI effects at the beginning of the music video!
In addition to an all-star production team, Show even traveled to New York’s Harlem district, becoming the first Taiwanese artist to ever book the New York Opera house to film a music video. He was deeply honored to be able to receive this honor from such a prestigious place, but said that this made him more jittery and nervous during the filming process, giving him more pressure to do well than for any other one of his music videos. Not wanting to be seen as a joke in an unfamiliar place, Show encouraged his dancers to do their very best so that they could have a perfect performance and show the foreigners that he is a force to be reckoned with.

Tokyo Joshiryu new idol group
Avex has unveiled a new five-member idol group called Tokyo Joshiryu (also known as Tokyo Girls' Style). This is the first girl group created by Avex since SweetS in 2003.
The five members were revealed one per day, starting on January 1. On Wednesday, Avex officially launched the group's website, which finally includes a picture of them together. The group consists of leader Miyu Yamabe, Ayano Konishi, Hitomi Arai, Yuri Nakae, and Mei Shoji, who are reportedly between the ages of 11 and 13.
Tokyo Joshiryu is aiming to be active not just in Japan, but throughout the rest of Asia as well. They do not yet have a CD release planned, but their first official live performance will be on February 7 at Shibuya O-Nest. The group has already opened a blog, a Mixi page, and a Twitter account.

South Korean actress Jeon Ji Hyun will co-star with Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi in the upcoming film "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan", a Zhang Ziyi and Wendi Murdoch joint production about a female relationship.
According to Sohu.com reports, the male lead will be played by one of Taiwan boy band F4 (Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu and Vanessa Wu) but it is not yet announced who will land the role.
"Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" is based on a 2005 novel by Chinese American Lisa See, set in remote southern Hunan in 19th-century China.
It depicts the heart-wrenching love-hate relationships of lifelong intimate friends Lily (Jeon Ji Hyun) and Snow Flower (Zhang Ziyi) who communicated with each other through letters written on fans in Nv Shu, or women's writing, the exclusive secret code by which women communicated a thousand years ago, thereby reaching out of their isolation under the rigid social conventions to share their hopes, dreams, and accomplishments.
The film is directed by Chinese American film director Wayne Wang who also made "Maid in Manhattan".
Shooting begins mid-January in Shanghai.

New drama "Down with Love"
CTV and GTV Idol drama "Down with Love" will start airing next month, their poster just came out, and looking at the main lead Jerry Yan and Ella Chen wedding picture, it looked like they really held a grand wedding. Looking at this poster, Jerry felt it was romantic, saying "I remember at that time the weather had been bad for a few days, but when the day of the photoshot actually came, it became sunny since morning, looking very warm, and perfect to take wedding pictures."

She expressed that if she gets married in the future, she won't make something as complex, she will just have a civil marriage with her other half, inviting her best friends and closest family, and hold a simple wedding.
Xiao Xian also screamed "So pretty ! looks happy. " while seeing this poster and the happiness in it, it also made her more expectant about marriage, "I like to see this happiness with everyone gathering together." Xiao Xian feels that now there are less and less peopple getting married, so if she gets married she won't necessarly hold a big wedding, but she will make sure to invite her relatives and friends to share the happiness of getting married.
Michael Zhang dreams to hold a parachuting wedding, saying "That's a once a liifetime thing, of course it needs to be special, making unforgetable memories about each other."

Jerry joked : "I didn't film many dramas where you get to the hospital the day after filming."
Because they had to rush to finish all the scenes in order to wrap up, everyday they had to film until dawn, Jerry's left eye suddenly reddened and stated to swell but he could only put up with it and do his best to finish filming, waiting only for the next day to go to the hospital to get checked. Jerry says "For days my eye was swollen, but fortunately, the drama had wrapped up."

Bada, Eugene and Shoo will comeback with an album
This was revealed during Bada’s 2009 concert when the 3 had appeared together on 1 stage.
Bada’s concert took place over 2 days on 30th and 31st December 2009. And during the 3 concert performances over the 2 days, over 2400 fans were present.

SES said during the concert, “You will continue to see Eugene, Bada and Shoo on 1 stage. We will continue to come together for Bada’s concert and sing for everyone. We did not disband. We are always progressing.”
Bada’s concert took place over 2 days on 30th and 31st December 2009. And during the 3 concert performances over the 2 days, over 2400 fans were present.
And for the last concert performance, with Eugene and Shoo’s appearances for the concert performance, they revealed that their plans for 2010. For Shoo’s new album to be released in 2010, there will be a song featuring all 3 of them. This piece of news is a pleasant surprise to fans and staff present.

It was a big night for the hit drama Autumn's Concerto this past Sunday as average ratings hit 7.76%, even surpassing the 7.35% achieved by My Queen starring Cheryl Yang and Ethan Ruan. Famous producer Chai Zhi-Ping (柴智屏), who cast the then unknown Van Ness Wu in Meteor Garden, previously criticized Autumn's Concerto for resembling the famous prime-time soap Blue Spider Web. Van Ness Wu came out on top in the ratings battle against her show Hi! My Sweetheart, and also leads the way among dramas starring F4 members. Interval ratings for Autumn's Concerto peaked at 8.86%, compared to 4.8% for Vic Chou’s Black & White, 4.2% for Jerry Yan’s Hot Shot and 3.38% for Ken Chu’s Momo Love.
After episode 13 of Autumn Concerto aired 2 weeks ago, many questions were raised when Ady An's character was told that her son cannot have a transfusion from those related by blood. Singer Lee Hyori comeback
It has been known that comeback date for singer Lee Hyori will be pushed back a little.
Initally it was planned for Hyori to release her 4th album end-January but it has been revealed that she will have her comeback a little later in February. She is currently very busy preparing for this new album. Much effort to make the comeback a perfect one has delayed the comeback date.
A staff told Newsen, “Currently Lee Hyori is working very hard to prepare for her new album. She has been working on the the album after coming back from New York where she had gone to seek the album cosncept inspirations last year.”

Korean talenthouse Play Cube Entertainment signed a deal on strategic alliance with global record company Universal Music Group on Monday, opening the path for their singers such as 4minute and B2ST to expand their singing careers internationally.
"I am convinced that this strategic alliance will bring a new beginning for the Korean music industry," Hong Seung-Seong, President of Play Cube was quoted as saying. "We expect our artists to successfully make their overseas debut through our cooperation with Universal Music."
Max Hole, President of Universal Music Group International, explained that the new alliance will enable Universal to license and globally distribute Korean pop music by Play Cube's artists, strengthen its standing in the local music market and serve as a bridge to Asian and other international markets.
Play Cube Entertainment was founded by two former executives at JYP Entertainment who oversaw the careers of global entertainer Rain and pop group Wonder Girls. The agency currently manages several K-pop artists including girl band 4minute and idol group B2ST.

Hey!Say! JUMP started their five-day consecutive concerts at Yokohama Arena from Jan.2nd. Ryosuke Yamada used to performed on Kohaku Uta Gassen (紅白歌合戦) as a member of NYC boys in the last year. The audience rating of the first half of the program (where they performed) reached 37.1% as in 2002, and Yamada said that he felt relieved at that moment.
In the venue full of 15 thousand people, Yuuma Nakayama performed Kohaku Medley in the stage of "Shadow boy in the midnight". TVB's Jade Solid Gold Music Awards
Next Saturday (Jan 16th) is TVB's Jade Solid Gold Music Awards. However, HKRIA, which is formed by four major record companies due to royalities issues against TVB, is still unable to reach an agreement with TVB. It is predicted that Eason Chan, Hacken Lee, Kay Tse, Hins Cheung, Fiona Sit, and others from the four record labels will not be attending the award ceremony. It will definitely reduce the number of stars and entertainment for that night. TVB had failed to make a compromise and even disallowed music videos from the four companies to be broadcasted on other TV stations.

It seems that MBLAQ Thunder, known for his good looks, had recently gotten himself a new nickname ’smelly-dol’?.
This was during the recent filming of MBC Every1 Idol Season 5, when talent Kang YeBin had “exposed” Thunder saying that he smells, giving him his new nickname.
The episode that day was an enjoyable date with MBLAQ for the female MCs Shin BongSeon, Jung Juri and guest appearance Kim NaYeong, Kim SaeRom and Kang YeBin.
But the problem comes when it was the time for the game of selecting partners. There was a female guest appearance who said that she would choose the MBLAQ member with the best smell, and Kang YeBin said, “Thunder’s feet smells”.
Thunder was seen a little flustered and did not know what to say, and then the other female guest appearances have saved the situation by saying that it was cute of Thunder.
Meanwhile, Thunder showed off his baby-like skin as requested by one of the noonas on the show.
The show is set to air on 6th January.
