Initial PS3 Quota For Taiwan Market Completely Booked. @ DigiTime

The initial shipment quota of Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) allocated for the Taiwan market has been completely booked, according to sources at the Taipei office of Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong (SCEH), which will officially launch the game console in Taiwan on November 17.

Local consumers, who did not order in advance, will probably be unable to secure the game console on the spot when the product is launched, noted the sources, who declined to reveal how many consoles were allocated to Taiwan for the product launch.

However, according to sources in the channel, a small volume of PS3 have already been imported into Taiwan via unofficial channels, with the product available at a price much higher than the retail price suggested by SCEH.

The 60GB model (CHCEA07) imported by unofficial means is currently available at some non-designated stores at prices ranging from NT$36,000 to NT$48,000 (US$1,100-1,468), compared to SCEH's suggested retail price of NT$17,980, according to the sources.
