In 2005, both Maggie Cheung Ho Yee and Sammi Cheng Sau Man filmed TV and movie versions of "Everlasting Regret" 《長恨歌》. Coincidentally, Maggie and Sammi both became severely ill at the same time and had to stop working. Sammi recently resumed working and Maggie also returned to Hong Kong secretively. With her face no longer swollen, Maggie revealed her come-back plans.

As one of TVB's top fadans in the past, Maggie had Thyroiditis in September 2005, causing her face to become extremely swollen. Since announcing her illness, Maggie reduced the number of public appearances, but her illness lingered.

In 2006, Maggie attended an awards ceremony in Malaysia. Despite heavy make-up, it was impossible to mask her swollen face and eyes. Maggie's swollen features made others recoil in shock.

Afterwards, Maggie announced discontinuation of all work projects to focus on her recovery. To avoid intrusion from the paparazzi, Maggie left Hong Kong. However, she maintained a blog and communicated her inner thoughts with the public.

Sammi resumed working the month before. Maggie was spotted having dinner with her family at 7 PM last night at an Italian restaurant. In a protective gesture, Mrs. Cheung shielded her daughter from the cameras. But Maggie was in good spirits and accepted reporters' interviews.

Maggie revealed that she will be resuming working. Her face was no longer swollen and her body was quite thin. During her illness, Maggie often wore scarves to hide her swollness. Wearing a simple t-shirt yesterday, it was obvious that Maggie was quite satisfied with her current figure.

R=Reporter, M=Maggie

R= Hi Maggie, long time no see! When will you meet publicly with everyone?

M= Yes! I am just having dinner with my family! (Smiling throughout) It's nothing special; can you give us a little privacy?

R= How is your illness?

M= (Smiling) Tomorrow I will attend a public function. My manager requested that I answer all press questions at that time.

Actually, Maggie will be attending a function in several days. Perhaps in her anticipation of returning to work, she provided the wrong date during the interview.

Since Maggie maintained contact with TVB, perhaps she will consider collaborating with TVB as one of her first come-back projects.
