"Ayaka's History 2006-2009" goes top

Last week, Ayaka's best album "Ayaka's History 2006-2009" topped the charts, setting this year's record for first-week sales by a female artist. This week, it remained on top after moving 142,000 more copies, making it this year's best-selling female album.

"Ayaka's History" has sold 490,000 copies so far, surpassing Superfly's "Box Emotions," which came out three weeks earlier. The collection is also Ayaka's first work to achieve #1 on the sales charts for two weeks in a row.

MiChi (#4), Garnet Crow (#7), and Do As Infinity (#9) released new albums this past week, as did American pop band Backstreet Boys (#2) and singer Mariah Carey (#10).

On the singles chart, the #1 spot was held by "COLORS ~Melody and Harmony~ / Shelter," released by Jejung and Yuchun from TVXQ. The single sold 149,000 copies.

Almost all of the other top ten singles were new releases. VAMPS led at #2, followed by a "Hetalia: Axis Powers" character single, Mika Nakashima, 9mm Parabellum Bullet, Hilcrhyme, and Erina Mano. Only Ikimono Gakari remained from last week at #8, while Ryuichi Kawamura and the The!! Travelers rounded out the list.

In addition to their single, TVXQ was #1 on the DVD charts, as "4th LIVE TOUR 2009 ~The Secret Code~ Final in TOKYO DOME" sold 171,000 copies. For a non-Japanese artist from Asia, they are the first in the past 20 years to take #1 with a music-related video release.
