TVB series Marriage Of Inconvenience <兩妻時代> held a promotional event today at a Mongkok yoga centre, attended by cast members including Bobby Au Yeung (歐陽震華), Angela Tong (湯盈盈), Toby Leung (梁靖琪), Raymond Wong (黃浩然), Stephen Wong (黃長興), Winnie Young (楊婉儀) and Power Chan (陳國邦).
The celebrities donned their loose sports clothes and gave a demonstration of various levels of yoga. For the rather inflexible Bobby, it was all very hard work and he laughed afterwards that he was trying very hard to hold back the tears.
During the demonstration, Bobby was very wary when he was holding Angela and he quickly took his hand away when he was holding her waist. Asked if he was afraid of any misunderstandings occurring, he smiled that she was showing her bare flesh so he did not want to touch her.
With their western attitudes, Toby and Angela were very forthcoming with their actions and often grabbed hold of Bobby during the event. However, he was full of jokes and when Angela spread her feet in one position, he said: "Don't spread your toes like that, your toes are beautiful and they are not as pretty when you spread them out that way!"
Angela has just returned from Japan, where she has been filming with Eric Tsang (曾志偉) for the preliminary show for the new series of The Super Trio Show <超級無敵獎門人>. She said that working with Eric was great because they were always eating, sometimes up to six times a day. She added that she has probably put on three or four pounds on this trip. She laughed that she was having so much fun on the gameshow, she came away with bruises and injuries on her legs.
Netizens have criticised Toby's performance in the series, saying that her acting is exaggerated and raw and commenting on her showing her plump legs when wearing shorts. Bobby showed his support for his co-star, saying that the image for the character was the choice of the producer and that every actor has their maturation stage. He felt that Toby's performance was more mature than that on The Drive Of Life <歲月風雲>. He also pointed out that Toby is very hardworking and focussed and her only shortcoming is her poor grasp of Chinese, which puts her at a disadvantage. He said that she will improve with time and should be given the chance to show her talents. Angela also said that the personality of the character was quite scatty and she actually found her own character was more exaggerated.
Toby said that she will accept and listen to any criticism and she thanked Bobby for his support. She said that she is working hard to improve and she is taking classes to improve her acting. She said that is not looking for compliments, but just for improvement and added that it is better to have feedback than none at all. She said that the producer had asked for a contrast between her character and Angela's so she did not mind wearing shorts for the role and she is already very pleased that people are calling her by her character's name in the street.
