Hong Kong singer-actress Gillian Chung performed Saturday night at an evening party of the Third Annual Meeting of Chinese Business Leaders in the eastern Chinese city of Nanchang, triggering another flutter of speculation about her comeback.
Chung came with her boss, Albert Yeung, chairman of Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG) and VIP of the meeting. The singer uttered a few words in greeting and sang two songs, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
The Twins member's showbiz career nearly evaporated after a nude photo scandal involving her and actor Edison Chen stirred up the whole Chinese-speaking world at the beginning of this year. Her public performances were met with protests, ads were withdrawn from media, and her scenes in the movie "Mei Lan Fang" were rumored to have been cut.
The latest TV drama of the 27-year-old star, Huanhua Xijian Lu, which was shot last year, started broadcasting on BTV on October 1. The broadcast was seen as her return to the stage.
Chung's comeback is "only a matter of time," an EEG official was quoted as saying.
